Gatherings book... worth a look

Gatherings

Small Group Ministry for Men

Tony Bushman and Bill Hamilton-Holway

In the Evensong tradition of covenant group ministry, Gatherings offers men the opportunity to grow spiritually and personally by meeting together in an atmosphere of appreciation, attentive listening and self-discovery. The sessions are 120 minutes long and include songs, readings and time for sharing. With space for writing and drawing, the book is designed so that each participant can have his own copy.

The eight services are: Getting to Know One Another; What It Means to Be Male; Friendship; Partnership and Competition; Getting Centered and Balanced; Making Amends; Family and Work; Passion and Loving Relationships.

Tony Bushman is professor emeritus at San Francisco State University and has a master of divinity from Starr King School for the Ministry. He has led men’s groups for over twenty-five years and has developed more than one hundred workshops. Bill Hamilton-Holway is co-minister at the Unitarian Universalist Church in Berkeley, California. He graduated from Meadville Lombard Theological School and has organized men’s groups in congregations in Utah and California.

Praise for Gatherings:

"Gatherings is a much-needed, long-awaited and tremendously valuable resource for Unitarian Universalist men. It will help men of all ages reconnect with one another and themselves."
—Neil Chethik, author, VoiceMale: What Husbands Really Think About Their Marriages, Their Wives, Sex, Housework, and Commitment

"Feeding the souls of men is a crucial concern in Unitarian Universalist congregational life. Bushman and Hamilton-Holway know this and have furnished varied and tasty fare. A small-group ministry geared toward assuaging men's deeper hungers will strengthen our entire liberal religious enterprise. Everyone and everything benefits when our men are properly nourished, and Gatherings does just that."
—Tom Owen-Towle, author, Save the Males: Changing Men...Changing the World
